The Earth Planet Museum was founded by John Olmsted (1938-2011) in 1988 and is located in Grass Valley, California. It was conceived as a place for California history to be explored chronologically. The Earth Planet Museum is located in the basement of an historic Catholic school and orphanage that was founded during California’s most prominent hydraulic mining years. Another facet of the museum is the extensive collection of recorded and Edison technology resulting in phonographs, cameras, Dictaphones, and gramophones. Currently, the Earth Planet Museum is being cataloged for a publication to ensure it’s place in California history is represented.
